Interpretting display: Model Comparison Time Series


This type of display is slightly more complicated than the previous one, but is easy to understand once you've used it a few times.

This plot has the same format as the previous one, except that it compares the forecasts from the 6 previous model runs. The latest model run (corresponding to the previous page) is at the top of the figure, with earlier model runs going downward. In this case, the 12-hr probability of precipitation forecasts are being compared.

Figures like this are also produced for the high and low temperature plots, but are not shown here in this example.

Using these figures you can easily examine the model trends--how the models' forecasts are changing with each new run.
